Apply For Scholarships

Take The Leap!

To apply:

1. Fill out online application by clicking on the link below. Applications are due NO LATER than August 1, 2019.

2. Send in at least one letter of recommendation from a music teacher. All letters of recommendation should be sent to erinshepherdmurray@gmail.com

3. Audition. Bring us something you like to sing. This could be as simple as Happy Birthday. It could also be a song from your favorite Broadway show or a song you really love to sing in chorus. We just want to hear your gorgeous voice.

Auditions take place on August 10, 2019 at Lakeside High School. Exact times will be assigned once all applications are in.

What To Expect

All students will sing and have a brief interview. If you have a parent available to come with you, this is helpful, as we may need to discuss finances.

For the audition!

Please come in prepared to sing your very best - this means:

  • Consider accompaniment. If you would like to sing acapella, cool. If you need an accompaniment track to play, we have a speaker system, just make sure you have the track up and ready to go. We will also provide an accompanist, so bring well-marked sheet music if you would like to sing with a pianist.
  • Memorizing your piece to the best of your ability
  • Warming up before you get to your audition
  • Dressing appropriately for an audition (generally this means church/nice dinner out. No shorts or jeans, hair out of your eyes!)

For the interview!

Please be prepared to talk about your goals, why you want to take private voice lessons, what music means to you in your life, etc.

Let's talk about money!

We want to give scholarships to as many students as possible, which means we need your help. Before coming in, do some mental math. Voice lessons typically cost between $200-$300/month, depending on the teacher and length of lesson. How much of that do you think you can afford? For some people, that's $20/month, and that's fine. PACA will take care of you. For others, it's closer to $150, and that's great, because it means PACA can take care of you AND a few other students. The more financial responsibility each family takes on, the more students we can help :)

Re-Apply for Scholarship

Already have a scholarship from PACA? Time to re-apply!

All current PACA Scholarship Recipients must re-apply every year. Here's what you need to do:

1. Fill out online application by clicking on the link above.  Applications are due NO LATER than August 1, 2019.

2. Send in a brief letter of recommendation from your current PACA voice teacher. All letters of recommendation should be sent to erinshepherdmurray@gmail.com

3. Audition. Auditions are cooler than they were last year, though, since you've all had a year of lessons.  Be prepared to sing a song you've been working on with your voice teacher. Also be prepared to do a small bit of sight-singing, yay!

Auditions take place on August 10, 2019 at Lakeside High School. Exact times will be assigned once all applications are in.

What to Expect

Please come in prepared to sing your very best - this means:

  • Bring your well-marked sheet music! An accompanist is provided.
  • Your piece is memorized, duh
  • You come in warmed-up and ready to sing
  • You are dressed appropriately for an audition (generally this means church/nice dinner out. No shorts or jeans, hair out of your eyes!). If you have questions about this, please ask your teacher.

For the interview!

Please be prepared to talk about your goals -are we helping you achieve them? Have your goals changed and/or been met while taking lessons?

Let's talk about money! You guys were the inaugural PACA pack - you paved the way for how this organization is run. Scholarship terms will be the same as last year unless you let us know that your needs have changed.
